Vinland Saga, FLCL And Other Blu-Rays Set For July
Crunchyroll has revealed its physical release schedule for this July. Topping the list is the second season of Vinland Saga, which premiered on streaming in January of 2023 (sometimes these things take a while). Vinland Saga: Season 2 Part 1 will be released on July 2 and contain promo videos, plus a textless version of the opening and ending songs. The first season of Vinland Saga introduced viewers to Torfinn. Throughout Season 1, Torfinn’s only goal was to kill his archenemy Askeladd, the man who murdered his father. As Season 2 opens, Askeladd is finally dead — but Torfinn didn’t do the deed. Denied his revenge, the man now wonders what his purpose is. Someone else thought “your purpose is to be my slave,” so he’s captured by landowner Ketil and forced to toil on his farmland. But there, Torfinn meets Einar, a fellow slave who convinces him to find new meaning. While that’s going on, Canute has been crowned King of England and is setting his sights on Demnark
The Original ALIEN Returning To Theaters Once More
No matter how many lackluster sequels and spinoffs pile up, nothing will ever diminish the impact of the original 1979 Alien — one of the finest films ever made. It changed everything about how science fiction and horror films were shot. It brought the genre out of the realm of cheesiness and campiness and produced a vision of terror that felt REAL. For those who have always wanted to dare to see the original Xenomorph up close, another chance is coming soon. 20th Century Studios has announced a new theatrical run this April 26 (Alien Day) in honor of the franchise’s 45th anniversary (which isn’t precisely that day, it came out in May) and to drum up hype for the coming sequel Alien: Romulus in August (which probably won’t be as good as Alien, but we can hope). The re-screening will include a special featurette about both Alien and Romulus including a conversation between the directors of the two films. The last time 20th Century re-issued this movie in theaters

Hell exists, Velma Season 2 Trailer
Velma is returning because life is unfair. No show has faced such unanimous scorn from both critics and audiences as Velma. Typically, when a show garners this level of disdain, it’s swiftly canceled before the season concludes. Yet, against all odds, this Mindy Kaling-led production was granted an unexpected green light—and the reason is quite unconventional. Enter the phenomenon of hate-watching—a curious trend where viewers subject themselves to content they dislike, only to later vent their frustrations online. Instead of simply tuning out, individuals persist in watching, perhaps driven by morbid curiosity or a desire to join the discourse. This influx of online animosity paradoxically fueled interest, creating a ripple effect that drew even more eyes to the screen. And, ironically, those who initially set out to despise the show inadvertently contributed to its viral success by generating reaction videos and amplifying its reach. Velma, a spin-off of the beloved Scooby-Doo franchise, positioned the iconic character as its lead. However, attempts at diversifying the cast, such as making Velma Indian
IDW Announces Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 40th Anniversary Comics Celebration
Ack! The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles have been around for forty years?? It’s true — if you go back to the VERY beginning. The whole thing started in 1984 as an independent comic book launched by creators Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird. At the time, it was a half-parody of trends in the comics business: teenagers, mutants and ninjas were all popular, as was Frank Miller’s run in Daredevil, which introduced ninjas called the Hand and a sensei called Stick. So the Turtles fought ninjas called the Foot and had a sensei called Splinter (get it?) It went beyond just a joke and became its own thing — and then some. TMNT has taken many forms across a lot of media, but it’s managed to endure in its original comic book form since the beginning. Now IDW, the current holders of the license, are about to celebrate four decades of Turtles litrerature with the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 40th Anniversary Comics Celebration. This huge volume will contain work by Jim
